Jerrell Mock and Cole Rockhold join Team B.A.A.

B.A.A. High Performance Team adds pair of NCAA All-Americans

BOSTON – The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) today announced the addition of Jerrell Mock and Cole Rockhold to the B.A.A. High Performance Team. The pair, who both ran for Colorado State University, add depth to the B.A.A.’s roster of middle- and long-distance specialists. Mock and Rockhold will be coached by B.A.A. High Performance Coach Mark Carroll. The B.A.A.’s High Performance team is sponsored by adidas.

“We’re very excited to welcome Jerrell and Cole to the B.A.A. High Performance team,” said Coach Carroll. “Jerrell and Cole are high caliber athletes who bring great experience to our team. We are eager to see what the future holds, and look forward to their continued growth as part of the B.A.A. family.”

Mock comes to the B.A.A. following a breakthrough performance at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon last fall, where he finished tenth in 2:10:37 in his marathon debut. A four-time NCAA All-American, Mock owns personal bests of 1:02:14 for the half-marathon and 28:07 for 10K. He is currently training for the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials in Atlanta on February 29.

“As someone who has spent all their life in the western U.S., there is no denying that this will be a big change for me,” said Mock, who is originally from Logan, Utah. “I couldn’t be more excited to have the opportunity to join a team with as rich of a history as the B.A.A. Coach Carroll and the team will be a really good fit for me. I look forward to making Boston my new home and doing my best to contribute to the program.”

Rockhold also earned NCAA All-American honors in track and cross country while at Colorado State University. At the 2018 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, Rockhold finished sixth in the mile and ninth in the 3,000-meters. In his senior season, he won the Mountain West Conference indoor mile title. He is a sub-four minute miler, having run 3:59.55 in 2017.

“I’m very excited to be a part of the B.A.A. and work with Coach Carroll,” said Rockhold, a native of Independence, Missouri. “To be able to be on the same team with Jerrell again makes it that much sweeter. I can’t wait to put on the B.A.A. yellow and blue uniform.”

The B.A.A.’s High Performance team supports American runners on their way towards making international teams, with the goal of competing at the highest level: the Olympic Games, World Athletics Championships, and Abbott World Marathon Majors. The B.A.A. is sponsored by adidas, which provides comprehensive support for the organization’s High Performance team, running club, and mass-participatory events.
